Lou + Rue started with my two dogs (Bodhi & Kora), a lot of walks, and the search for a leash that felt simple, timeless, and made to last.

I’ve always loved taking my dogs on walks—slow mornings, quiet evenings, fresh air after a long day. It’s one of my favorite ways to spend time with them. Those everyday walks became more than just routine; they became moments to slow down, bond, get outside, and reset together.

When I began looking for a genuine leather leash, I struggled to find one that felt both high quality and reasonably priced. I wanted something timeless—something durable, comfortable in hand, and beautiful in its simplicity. Most options felt either overly expensive or poorly made, so I decided to make my own.

What started as a personal project quickly turned into something I genuinely loved creating.

Each leash is handcrafted from genuine leather and thoughtfully made with durability, comfort, and everyday use in mind. I’m drawn to pieces that age beautifully over time—products that become part of your daily life and carry the character of the moments they’ve been through.

The name Lou + Rue comes from my dogs’ middle names (yes, they have middle names haha), which felt fitting for something inspired so deeply by them and the time we share together.

At the heart of this brand is a simple belief: some of life’s best moments happen on ordinary walks with the dogs we love most.

And every leash is made with that in mind.
